Web Dashboard

This is your home base. Everything you need to manage your server, your storage, and your apps lives here.

How to get there: the dashboard is served on port 8080 — open http://YOUR-SERVER-IP:8080 in any browser.

Logging in: there is no default password — the first screen creates your admin account (you pick the username and password).

Set a strong admin password

Choose a strong password when you create the admin account — the dashboard is open to anyone who reaches it, and there's no default to fall back on if you forget it.

Dashboard Overview — header bar shows Port Manager, Help, theme toggle, and Sign In on the right; category tabs run left to right below the header; search bar is below the tabs; app cards fill the rest of the page with app name, container image, deployment badges (Traefik/Auth), category label, and a Deploy button.

What You're Looking At

The dashboard header has four controls:

  • Port Manager — see which ports are taken on your server and find free ones
  • Help — quick links to docs and Discord
  • Theme toggle — switch between dark and light mode
  • Sign In — log in to unlock deploying and managing containers

Below the header: a row of category tabs to filter the catalog, a search bar to find apps by name, and the app cards — one per app, showing the container image, deployment badges, and a Deploy button.

Below each app card: a category tag and any capability badges — Traefik (supports reverse proxy + SSL) and Auth (supports Authelia authentication). Apps without these badges work in Bridge mode only.

Browsing the App Catalog

The App Store organizes its 3,200+ templates into category tabs you can click to filter — media servers (Plex, Jellyfin), download clients (qBittorrent, Sonarr, Radarr), home automation (Home Assistant, Node-RED), AI tools (Ollama, Open WebUI), networking (Pi-hole, WireGuard), and more.

Use the search bar at the top to find apps by name across all categories. Apps you've already deployed show as running containers; star your favorites for quick access.

Deploying an App

  1. Find the app you want — browse by category or search
  2. Click the blue Deploy button on the app card
  3. Pick a network mode:
    • Bridge — the simple one. The app gets a port number, you access it at http://your-server:PORT. No extra setup needed. Start here if you're not sure.
    • Traefik — gives the app its own URL like https://plex.yourdomain.com with free SSL. Requires a domain name and Traefik running on your server. (Traefik setup guide)
    • Host, macvlan, and Custom network are also available for setups that need them.
  4. Adjust any settings — timezone, data paths, etc. The defaults usually work fine
  5. Click Deploy — watch it install in real time

Deploy Modal

What happens when you click Deploy

You'll see a real-time progress feed showing Docker downloading the image and starting the container — not a spinner that leaves you guessing. If something goes wrong, you see the actual error message here.

Docker Management (Portainer Replacement)

The Docker page is a full Portainer replacement with inner sidebar navigation:

Section What it does
Dashboard Container/image/volume/network counts, resource usage overview
Containers Full container list with sortable columns, pagination, search, bulk actions
Stacks Deploy and manage Docker Compose stacks from YAML
Images View, pull, and delete Docker images
Networks View and manage Docker networks
Volumes View and manage Docker volumes
Events Real-time Docker event stream
Host Docker engine info, disk usage

Container actions

Action What it does
Start Start a stopped container
Stop Graceful shutdown
Restart Stop and start again
Kill Force stop immediately
Pause / Unpause Freeze/resume a container without stopping it
Remove Delete the container (your data in /opt/appdata/ stays safe)
Recreate Remove and recreate with the same config (useful after image updates)

Container detail view

Click any container to open the detail panel with five tabs:

  • Overview — container config, ports, mounts, environment variables, health status badges
  • Logs — real-time SSE log streaming (like docker logs -f in the browser)
  • Stats — live CPU, memory, network, and disk I/O charts
  • Inspect — full JSON container inspection (like docker inspect)
  • Console — xterm.js terminal directly into the container (like docker exec -it)

Bulk actions

Select multiple containers using checkboxes, then start, stop, restart, or remove them all at once.

Environment selector

If you have Eight.ly Agents on remote Docker hosts, the Environment dropdown in the Docker page header lets you switch between local and remote Docker instances.

Port Manager

Click Port Manager in the header to see every port in use by Docker containers on your server. Shows the port, which container is using it, and helps you avoid conflicts when deploying new apps.

Signing In

Click Sign In in the top right.

You created your admin account the first time you opened the dashboard — sign in with those credentials.

API Keys

For scripts, automation, or the mobile app — see the API Keys guide for full details on creating, using, and revoking keys.

Adding Your Own Apps

Got a Docker app that's not in the catalog? Two ways to run it:

Search the App Store first. With 3,200+ templates, the app you want is probably already there — search by name in the App Store page. The install wizard lets you override ports, environment variables, and the restart policy before deploying, so even if the defaults don't match your setup, you rarely need a custom file.

Deploy your own Compose file. For anything genuinely not in the catalog, go to Docker → Stacks and deploy your Compose YAML directly:

services:
  my-app:
    image: my-image:latest
    container_name: my-app
    restart: unless-stopped
    ports:
      - 9000:9000
    environment:
      - TZ=America/New_York
    volumes:
      - /opt/appdata/my-app:/config

The stack deploys like any catalog app — its containers show up in the container list with the same start/stop/logs/console tools, and the stack itself is managed from the Stacks section.

Want your app available to everyone? Contribute the template to the shared catalog — see How the App Catalog Works for the template format and Contributing for the submission process.

Dark Mode

Click the sun/moon icon in the header to switch between dark and light mode, or it follows your system preference automatically.
